A professional journalist with a warm and friendly nature, I will guide you through every step of the process with my personal one-to-one service. I love hearing people’s stories and will cherish your memories just as much as you do.
My Life Story was inspired by the loss of a much-loved family member. When my grandad passed away, my mum felt an enormous sense of regret that she had never recorded any of Bill’s precious memories, fearing that many of his stories had died with him. It struck her as a tragic opportunity missed. Determined to help other people to preserve their memories for their loved ones, my mum, Barbara Acock, and my sister, Rose Acock MBE, founded our family business, My Life Story, in 2008.
I took the helm in 2012 and have been busy crafting cherished biographies ever since. A fully trained journalist, I have worked in the publishing industry since 1999, writing, editing and designing numerous glossy magazines and corporate communications. I was the designer of France Magazine, the editor of celebrity monthly, TV Hits, and the launch editor of Cotswold Style magazine.
I support each client throughout the entire process, creating a comfortable one-to-one relationship. Whatever you need along the way, I will be your point of contact and will know your project inside and out. I am an expert interviewer and a compassionate listener. Most importantly, I can spot a typo from a hundred paces.
Writing a biography is a deeply personal – sometimes emotional – journey, requiring sensitivity and understanding, and I have always felt privileged to be entrusted with clients’ treasured memories. I believe every person’s story deserves to be pride of place on their family’s bookcase and I’d be delighted to help you claim your space on the shelf.
The My Life Story office is based within my own home in the Cotswold market town of Stroud and this allows me to keep my overheads low and my prices competitive.
